Highly underrated, one of the most truthfully hard-edged but emotional bands out there.

Comfort for my brooding attitude. A terrible shame that Layne couldn't fight past his demons. This group was special.

They slay dragons with the +20 grunge blade.

This band was so powerful and so volatile that it was a matter of time before it imploded. Unfortunately, it happened at the cost of Layne. He will be missed and he was one of my favorite voices ever.

i honestly cant say that alice in chains have ever put out a bad song or CD, unlike most other bands out there.

I think the new album warrants alot of credit considering Layne Staley has been dead for almost 10 years now. With that said, the album is incredible for what it is. Its a taste of the 90's well into the new century. Every song on the album has that old school AIC feel that was given to us in Dirt. And the vocals don't miss a beat. You can barley tell that Layne isn't singing anymore. Grunge is back from the dead.

Alice in Chains are not grunge, because grunge is not a genre. Their music is heavy metal all the way.
Avatar #14: Bliss From A Dead Embrace - Posted: 03/23/2010, 12:38 PM
Forgot everyone on here is an expert. I wouldn't dare call AIC heavy metal. Thats just insulting to the band.

You bet your gosh darn butt I am.

Grunge is totally a genre LD and so is Emo for that matter. As far as what BFADE said about the new album and not missing Layne, I couldn't disagree more. Layne was ten times the vocalist of that new guy and I honestly didn't realize how much of an impact he had on the music until I heard the obvious difference in the new stuff.

Grunge is a genre dude. They are GRUNGE not Heavy Metal.
Avatar #18: Bliss From A Dead Embrace - Posted: 08/07/2010, 06:35 PM
Hes not Layne, But he fits the music well. I still think hes a solid replacement.

WTF is up with the Homosexual xmas photo?
Avatar #20: Lucid Dreams - Posted: 10/07/2010, 01:58 PM
I could agree with that Bliss because the guy isn't that bad, but when I listen to it I feel something is missing. I like the new album, but it just isn't that great of an Alice In Chains album to me.

Now that Mike Starr is dead, I hope they give it up for good. They should have left well enough alone.

RIP Mike Star.

Avatar #24: PrayForTheFlood93 - Posted: 09/24/2012, 04:12 AM
ive talked to people who have seen recent AIC shows and they all say they had a blast.
Avatar #25: AmazingWatDaFuk - Posted: 09/30/2012, 10:43 PM
They're becoming a Drowning Pool though
Avatar #26: PrayForTheFlood93 - Posted: 01/01/2013, 11:49 PM
Drowning Pool needs to just give up already. They never will recover from the death of Dave. AIC should probably call it qquits soon too. or at least change the name.
