As the vitriol spewed from Evil Empire, Rage Against the Machine's long-awaited follow up to their 1993 debut owes much to Chuck D.'s polemic fury and rapid-fire urgency--though as always the band rages without hip-hop machinery in favor of the heavy-duty power tools of rock. But no matter if Rage against the Machine amounts to revolutionary rap, protest metal, or a combination of the two, the band's command of sonic rage makes Evil Empire a powerful assault in any musical language.

If I believed in a god, and he were willing to answer prayers (and I'm certain I don't stand alone in here...), I would pray that the first will be the public declaration of the reunion and reformation of one of the greatest politically charged bands of all time (I say this knowing that Tool is not a politically charged band). The second, again, only a hope, would be the release date of their next studio album. Given the countdown, that should drop us somewhere around August 24th (please check my math, as it's never been my shining instrument). If that's not the case, I would hope that its' the day we band together to overthrow the Bush administration (I.E. satan's grip on Earth...no I take that back if he existed he'd send a smarter minion). But we'll find out around 7 this morning...........

Avatar #17: mister - Posted: 04/21/2008, 11:38 PM
morello is good, but i think everyone can agree when i say, (to date) "what the hell happened to you man?" he's weak now. mediocre and uneventful like he once was.

I don't like the unfair fact that EVERYONE seems to overlook Tim's bass playing abilities. listen to "Tire Me" and "Sleep Now In The Fire" and then try to say he isn't an exsptional bass player. Tim deserves MUCH more credit than what he gets.

never got into them not as lyrically diverse as I would have liked and they get annoying after one song.

(politically) So fucking far ahead of their time.
