What's there to say about a band that has supplied
me with countless favorite songs and more than my
fair share of entertainment. All I can think of
saying is thank you. So Thank you Chris, Thank
you Kurt, and Thank you Dave for being a couple of
guys who make great music

No, I am not joking. Yes, I understand they
'changed' rock music in the 90's and how many
bands they influenced. But they're just another
bland rock band to me. Nothing special.

..despite that, I actually
like a lot of the songs.

Not dissing Nirvana at all, but if anyone here
thinks they're the end-all-be-all of the Seattle
music scene in the early 90's, give Alice in
Chains a shot.

They were able to change the face of rock because
they were the most radio friendly and catchy. You
couldn't put a song like Dirt (AIC) on the air
because it's not readily accessible. With most of
Nirvana's tunes even if it had heavy lyrical
meaning, it was masked it 4/4 punk-style grunge
which many people could bob their head to.
Overall I think they're overrated, and the other
grunge scene bands need a little more credit.

Alice in Chains was definitely better than
Nirvana.. But Nirvana has their good songs,
not extremely talented or anything just catchy and
what not. The band was overrated and AIC was
underrated.

If you think AIC is underrated, take it to their
page. That has nothing to do with how good Nirvana
was and is. They're one of the few bands that
can be classified as having changed rock 'n' roll
permanently. We've yet to see the genius artists
that can come from being influenced by Nirvana. I
don't think there's been many, if any, good bands
around since that have been heavily influenced by
grunge. And "Dirt" is played on
radio. Maybe not as much as Nirvana, but it is
played on radio. I think if you measure a
band's greatness by how much radio play they get,
you're going to end up fucked over.

Question is nirvana under or overrated? A little
of both I believe, while I will respect what they
did, it was kind of like watching The Doors career
in fast foreward and taking the booze away from
Morrison(played by Cobain of course) and replace
it with acid and pez dispensers and left handed
fenders in short I doubt anyone really truely
understands this band as much as they say they do
especially younger generations to come who
"feel they can relate to these timeless
tunes" Unless you went from being a bum
looking for the next high to a platinum artist and
still felt like that bum, I doubt you'd understand
this band, and Novoselic and Love are still
fighting over a dead man's legacy GET A FUCKING
MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE LIKE GROHL!

A rather beast band if I do say so myself. Top
stuff, as it were. Who am I kidding? Nirvana has
the greatest replay value of any band i'm
constantly going back to them. Awesome band,
awesome music.
