Submitting New Content
1. If possible, please include the artist's official website and / or MySpace and / or PureVolume when submitting. Google will work wonders for this.

2. Release dates are needed. If you can only find the year, that's alright, but the full date is highly preferred. All Music is the most reliable.

3. If you're posting numerous albums by the same band, keep it all in the same thread. Just reply to the original thread with each album.

4. Album covers are also needed. To post these, just find them somewhere on the web, right click on it and click properties. This will show you the URL of the photo, copy and paste it into the message with your submission. If you can't find the cover online and you own the album, you can scan it and upload it for free on Image Shack. Be sure the image size is a minimum of 300 x 300.

5. Make sure your request isn't already on the site.

6. Include the album tracklist. When posting an album, even if you're submitting the lyrics, put the tracklist before the lyrics. When there's no tracklist included, we have to copy and paste each track to make up a tracklist. It's much easier and quicker for us when the tracklist is already there.

7. When submitting a new artist, please submit their entire discography (full-length albums and major EP's). CD singles are optional; we'll add them if you submit them, but we won't yell at you if you don't.

8. Submit the lyrics if they're available. If a band's lyrics aren't online, you can submit their discography and have them added; however, if you leave the lyrics out of your submission and the first result on Google is a page full of their lyrics, well...

9. When submitting one song or submitting lyrics to an existing album, please do the following to ensure that I can find what it is that needs to be filled in:
Quoting You
Subject:
Artist Name - Album Title - Song

Message:
Artist: Artist Name
Album: Album Title
Song: Song Name

Lyrics
Editing Existing Content

1. Saw some errors in some lyrics? Point out what it is you're correcting; don't just post the new lyrics up.

This is how lyrics corrections should look:
Quoting You
this is the wrong line
should be
this is the right line
Optionally, you can copy the whole song over and put your corrections in bold.

2. When editing a song, please do the following to ensure that we can find what it is that needs to be fixed:
Quoting You
Subject:
Artist Name - Album Title - Song

Message:
Artist: Artist Name
Album: Album Title
Song: Song Name

Your corrections
General

1. If your post has been deleted, this means that we either couldn't find the lyrics to fill your request or your submission has been added. If we request additional information along with your submission, you have five days to reply with either the requested info or a mere "give me more time" before the topic is deleted.

2. Don't post demands for bands to be added. This includes "add (band)!!!" or "add (band), info can be found at (site)." We don't mind adding your content, but try to make it easy on us.

3. Make a new topic for your submission. Don't reply to this.

V/A Albums

With the obvious exception of guest appearances (ie, most rap albums), anything with more than one artist appearing on it - be it a split album, movie soundtrack, compilation, etc. - is now considered to be a V/A release for the purpose of the database. These can now be added to the site, but keep in mind the following:

1. Every artist appearing on the album must exist on the site. If an album has thirteen tracks and even one of those tracks is by an artist not existing on the site, it can not be added. Submit the missing artist(s), then submit the album.

2. Ensure that you are submitting proper artist credits. There is a world of difference between:

Somebody - Some Song (featuring Some Other Guy)
which is a song by one person with a guest, and
Somebody & Some Other Guy - Some Song
which is a collaborative effort between two people.

3. The above rules about lyrics apply here. Yes, we know that they're probably already on here under the given artists, but try to make it a little easier on us so that we don't have to look up a dozen different songs by a dozen different bands.

4. As of this writing, V/A albums consisting of more than one disc can not be added. That'll be fixed soon (and this note removed), but if you're reading it here, keep that in mind.

Upcoming Releases

I realize that albums get leaked to various MP3 sites ages before the CD hits stores. I also realize that people want to see these albums added to the site ASAP. However, it's a royal pain in the ass to update a tracklist if the song titles / track ordering changes between the leak and the release. Therefore, upcoming albums will not be added if the tracklist comes from leaks or sites that report on leaks (ie, PRP and Wikipedia). If you're submitting an album well in advance of its official release date, let us know where you found the tracklist at.

This may be horribly neurotic, but would you rather the discography be posted first, and then each individual album's tracklist and lyrics, OR the discography posted WITH the tracklist and/or lyrics?

(um, does that make sense?)

Album info before the lyrics is always the best (and easiest) way to go about it. Something like this:

Artist: Some Artist
Site: http://www.somesite.com (if the band isn't already on the site)

Album: Some Album Title
Cover: (use the img tags here to put it in)
Released: January 24th, 1981
1. Song 1
2. Song 2
3. Song 3

Song 1
(lyrics here)

Song 2
(lyrics here)

Song 3
(lyrics here)

Many thanks.

But what about discography before album info?

For example:

Artist:
Site:
Discography:
album 1
album 2
album 3

Album 3
Cover:
Released:
Tracks:
1.
2.
3.

Album 2...etc.

(and you're welcome. ;) Give me a minute and I'll go change those image links...)

That would work out as well, just put the tracklist before the lyrics.... example:

1. Song
Lyrics

2. Song
Lyrics

^^Don't put that and point to it as being the tracklist... kinda makes things difficult, heh.

As long as it's easy to put into the db, I really don't mind how it's submitted.

Question. Is it possible to submit album reviews. I like reviewing. I think I did a halfarsed review ages ago, but I'd actually like to do a good one. Can I submit this, and where whoul I do it?

You can click the "Add Your Review" on any album page to add a review. If you want to revise a review, make a new thread in this forum with the artist name, album title, and your new review.

Is it possible to submit an artist/group for adding, if they don't have a website? Given that your #1 point in this topic is to include one, I would think not, but I still hold hope.

Sure, that's actually no problem. I just wanted users to include it if the band in question had one available (even if it's just a myspace).

Got a question - Should we submit singles as a whole album, or just the b-sides as 'non-album tracks'?

I prefer the former (adding singles as albums), but nobody will bitch at you about the latter either.
