MJ Keenan is at it again...A Perfect Circle-wise, not Tool-wise.
This album has half-dozen covers, some new singles, and a remixed "Thirteenth Step" song. Lots of their stuff, from this album, sounds like a mix of Nine Inch Nails, trance, techno, and Tool. It's awesome, but not perfect; I give it 9/10.
1.Annihilation-- Eerie background, but a great intro.
2.Imagine-- John Lennon cover...one of my faves off this album.
3.Peace, Love, and Understanding-- Elvis Costello cover...another one of faves off of it.
4.What's Going On?-- Marvin Gaye cover...decent stuff.
5.Passive-- Another one of my faves off this album. It has a heavy chorus, and a cool outro. At the end, I thought that I was hearing words being sung in reverse; it turned out that it wasn't a bunch of reversed words, it was "passive, aggressive, bullshit."
6.Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie-- Black Flag cover...At first, I thought it was an ABBA cover. (That would be SO f*cking cool!) It then turned out that it was a Black Flag cover. (Stupid title!!!) Anyway, it's a good cover.
7.People Are People-- Depeche Mode cover...And I thought "Personal Jesus" was the only DM song covered by bands. I THOUGHT WRONG. Anyway, this is a good cover also.
8.Freedom of Choice-- Devo cover...another decent cover by APC.
9.Let's Have A War-- Fear cover...yet another cover that's decent.
10.Counting Bodies Like Sheep To the Rhythm of the War Drums-- Remix of "Pet"...so-so. Not their best. The original version of "Pet" is WAY better than this remix.
11.When the Levee Breaks-- Memphis Minnie cover...just like most people on this site, I also thought that it was originally by Led Zeppelin. WRONGO...it's Memphis Minnie. Anyway, it's another awesome cover; one of my faves off this album.
12.Fiddle and the Drum-- Alright closer.
Overall, it's, like I said, an "almost perfect" album.
HIGHLIGHTS: Annihilation, Imagine, Peace Love and Understanding, Passive, People Are People, When the Levee Breaks
