Ah, The Fratellis. If you want an album to play at a party, look no further. Costello Music is probably the catchiest cd you'll come in contact with that's been released in the past 3 years. They have stumbled upon a very original sound, without sounding original at all.

The album is just plain fun. It doesn't try to be anything else other than that. From songs as contagious as Flathead (which has been used in an ipod ad) and Chelsea Dagger to the ever so singable Whistle For The Choir, this album is just plain good. John Lawler (aka John Fratelli) doesn't have the greatest voice in the world, but he knows what he's good at, and uses that to his advantage. He just comes across as a guy that would be up on stage at a bar giving it his all, with a great band to back him up. It's nothing amazing, but it's just fun to be around.

As far as the songs themselves, some may come across as sounding the same as others, but in all honesty you just don't seem to care. the loud drums, catchy riffs, and that Scottish accent of his just comes together so well that you just keep wanting more. The album itself is put together rather nicely too with the softness of Whistle For The Choir put closer to the start to settle you down a bit, but other catchy tunes such as Creepin' Up The Backstairs and Baby Fratelli put near the end to keep you listening.

All and all there really isn't to much to say about the album, other than it's just plain fun. Like I said, put this cd on when you got a bunch of friends over, and I guarantee that they will be entertained, and so will you. Just don't expect an amazing 2 hour long concept album, or an all out orchestrated masterpiece with this, and you'll love it. Have some fun, and bounce along with this great up and coming indie rock trio.
