BTBAM described this album as "65 minutes of non-stop pummeling beautiful music thats adult contemporary progressive death metal." I have never heard a band so accurately describe their upcoming album as they did with that statement.

"Colors" continues right where "Alaska" starts off...sort of. Musically, the sound is very similiar to "Alaska." The technical aspects of it are there, but I feel that this album doesnt have the same controlled chaotic sound that their previous album delivered. But where that falls off, the progressive element really comes into play. This album is by far the most progressive theyve ever done, throwing in more jazz-like parts, more time signature changes and just overall random bits and pieces of anything they could think of. From the almost "A Night Before Christmas" like part in "Sun of Nothing" to a hoedown part at the end of "Ants of The Sky," they throw in parts that could only work in a BTBAM track, and of course they do it exceptionally well.

The idea to have this album play as one continuous track is nothing short of genius. When I first gave it a listen, I couldnt tell where one song ended and the other begin. One second Im on the first track and then I look and Im on track three. Its really amazing how every track flows right into eachother, even the amazing instrumental track "Viridian." Its almost weird just listening to one track because although it sounds like an actual song, you get this feeling that it kind of starts in the middle of it, but even still, all 8 tracks are amazing.

The one thing I was curious about was if they were going to be able to top their most epic song off their last album, "Selkies: The Endless Obsession." I think they do with the last track on the album "White Walls." That song, from start to finish, is just flat out the best song theyve ever done. Its 14 minutes of perfection. It has everything in it that makes this band great.

This album I feel as a whole is better than "Alaska." They way they progressed even more just puts this album above their last. All 8 songs are great and the way they all flow makes them even better. An easy selection for one of the best albums to be released this year, and Im not at all surprised. This band just gets better and better with every album they release, and this one is no exception.
