"the birth of thrash metal" is how this album is described and that would be fairly accurate as this album is one of the first thrash metal albums and shows that this new genre was going to be a major change in the way music was written.

Slayer sounds completely different on this album, but the sound heared on their later albums is still there mainly because Tom uses high pitched screaming more on this album.

Like the other debut thrash albums released around the same time as this, the budget for this album was only very small, which is noticable as the production value isn't the greatest, but this album still gave us some notable Slayer anthems that are still loved today the main one being "The Antichrist"

I would recomend this album to those who enjoy old school thrash metal and to anyone that enjoys Slayers other albums and want to hear how it all began.
