After the great success of "Reign In Blood" Slayer decided that they couldn't better that album and so made decided that they would go with a more melodic sound and it worked.

South Of Heaven starts the album off and shows that Slayer can be more than just speed and the rest of the album continues to prove that with other such songs like Mandatory Suicide being ones that are classed as being "Classic Slayer".

This album also started the experimentation in their songs that was expanded on in later albums (mainly Diabolus....)

So this album is one of Slayers slowest albums, if not the slowest, but it still delivers what is expected from a Slayer album, top quality music
