Magic Castle Land, the second offering from Super Geek League, is an album that some may find off-putting at times but that is the main point behind this style of music, Avant-Garde, which has the "anything goes" attitude, which makes for some interesting listening at times.
the whole album has a funk-style sound throughout it and shows some good musicianship, the lyrics are at times confusing, but they seem to fit with the music. At times the songs seems like organized chaos, but that's what makes this album have that unique feel to it.
The album has it's mix of funk-driven, energy filled songs and those that could be described as "Ballads", but even those have more experimentation in them than you would expect. the album also seems to get more melodic as the album progresses, which makes the latter part of the album become somewhat uninteresting.
On an overall; it's not one that everyone would find in their collection, but for those who enjoy music that takes music elements that would never be seen on the same style and puts them into the same song, it's worth at least a good listen.
