if u are a true brand new fan then u will like this album. over the years brand new has progressed on each album, developing their sound and evolving their subject matter for their songs. this album most closely resemble their last, just heavier. if u think about it, Deja entendu was a heavier version of your favorite weapon with darker, more adult topics. The God and the Devil are Raging Inside of Me album takes Deja Entendu and turns down the happy up-beat, pop-punk sound that brand new became well known for and carries us in a direction that no one could have predicted. that album reminds me of cursive's Ugly Organ in that it was a huge accomplishment for brand new and established them not as some teeny-bop one hit wonder band.
times have changed and so has brand new. this album reflects the attitudes of the majority of our generation; like how things are promised to us but never delivered, and we have no one to blame but ourselves. its gloomy, dark, and even insightful at times. interpret how u will, but i think brand new is right on track.
i believe that every brand new album represents problems people deal with in each stage of their life, and when u put them in order they are almost biographical if they arent already.
Your Favorite Weapon= High school (duh this is beyond obvious)
Deja Entendu= the college years (debatable)
God and the Devil...= when u realize just how f-ed up the world is (when your hopes and dreams begin to wither)
Daisy= acceptance of what has happened but still fighting for change of course.

ive grown up listening to each album during these parts of my life and they helped me deal with some of my largest problems, and give me the motivation to get past them. so expect no less from brand new on this album.
