Covered As: Fake Plastic Trees by The Arrogant Sons Of Bitches
Her green plastic watering can
For her fake Chinese rubber plant
In the fake plastic earth
That she bought from a rubber man
In a town full of rubber plans
To get rid of itself
It wears her out, it wears her out
It wears her out, it wears her out
She lives with a broken man
A cracked polystyrene man
Who just crumbles and burns
He used to do surgery
For girls in the eighties
But gravity always wins
It wears her out, it wears her out
It wears her out, it wears her out
She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My fake plastic love
But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run
It wears her out, it wears her out
It wears her out, it wears her out
If I could be who you wanted
If I could be who you wanted all the time
All the time, oh....

Song Facts - Show All?
"Fake Plastic Trees" producer Paul Kolderie missed a cue during the final verse (the distorted guitars were meant to come in at the beginning of the bar), but the result was so pleasing that the mistake was left on the final mix. The song also was partly inspired by the commercial development of Canary Wharf.

Who said they were depressed? Maybe they just sound depressed to you and not me. Oh well. At least they're not whining about it like most shitty bands today. They approach things at a better angle than most bands and it comes out like music, not mass-marketed teenage angst.

Amazingly beautiful song. For the longest time I didn't really care for it, but that has changed for sure now.

Easily one of the best songs of the 90's... or all time. So much emotion here, great lyrics, I love the build up (espiecially when "but i can't help the feeling I could blow through the ceiling" bit). And then it all dissolves bittersweetly and just leaves you breathless... amazed.

I really feel that Thom Yorke's vocals in this song are more unique than any other radiohead song, and definitely convey the most emotions to the listener.
