Ain't found a way to kill me yet
Eyes burn with stinging sweat
Seems every path leads me to nowhere
Wife and kids, household pet
Army green was no safe bet
The bullets scream to me from somewhere

Here they come to snuff the rooster
Yeah, here come the rooster
You know he ain't gonna die

Walkin' tall, machine gun man
They spit on me in my home land
Gloria sent me pictures of my boy
Got my pills 'gainst mosquito death
My buddy's breathin' his dyin' breath
Oh god, please, won't you help me make it through.

An anthem for war veterans. Resilent listening.

this is arguably their most popular song... i don't even think it's that good. i like the unplugged version more. definitely a good track though, very haunting. just not their best.

First song I heard from them too. I didn't care much for the band at first, but after listening to this album, i gotta say that they were amazing

This is one of the best songs by AIC, I personally love the acousic version better...I think this would be my choice of song when I die...R.I.P Layne

This song is amazin and really hits home for me from a military standpoint. The Vietnam generation were so overlooked by our Country's civilians that it pains me when I am reminded of it. All the Veterans of this great country deserve respect and this song helps to epitomize that for me. Great song!

This song made me understand more about my father being so close minded on the world. Vietnam was hell and this song catches every aspect.

Amazing song. It's heavy, headstrong, to the point, and the vocal harmony is great.

Great song about Jerry's father in the war. Both personally and universally effective.

So powerful. The bass line coupled with the incredibly tight harmonies between Layne and Jerry. Here they are more of a coupled melody but it makes for such an atmospheric moment. One of AIC's finest!
