Thought I ran onto you down on the street
Then it turned out only to be a dream
I made a point to burn all of the photographs
She went away and took a different path
I remember the face
But I cant recall the name
Now I wonder how whatsername has been

Seem s that she disappeared with out a trace
did she ever marry old what's his face
I made a point to burn all of the photographs
She went away and took a different path
I remember the face
But I cant recall the name
Now I wonder how whatsername has been

Remember, whatever
It seems like forever ago
Remember, whatever
It seems like forever ago
The regrets are useless
In my mind
She's in my head
I must confess
The regrets are useless
She's in my head
From so long ago

(Go, Go, Go, Go..)

And in the darkest
If my memory serves me right
I'll never turn back time

Forgetting you, but not the time

agreed, this is a fantastic closer to a great album. it's reminiscient of Macy's Day Parade but it's still great.

I think this song is great, but I agree with SOLONGASTORIA, I think Homecoming would have made a much better ending song. Oh well.

i agree with vash about it sounding like Macy's Day Parade but like he said " still great" I think this is a great closer for green day's new a such an awsome CD. I love this song and this album. One of green day's best albums ever

just another comment on this song... i just got around to reading the lyrics because i grabbed the limited edition thingy, so i was reading it and... it made me appreciate the song more because, well, just read them! EVERYBODY feels that way, that "was that her...?" sort of thing when you see someone on the street that resembles a lost love or some shit like that. "forgetting you, but not the time..." very powerful. and as a side note i also agree that "Homecoming" would make a good closer, but if you think of the content and context of this song, it makes sense to put this one at the end. in homecoming it's said that jimmy blows his brains out, so this song coming after homecoming might mean that he's dreaming of whatsername in death... follow? heh, i think im reading too much into this song. green day tracks aren't meant to be disected like this :) bottom line, GREAT SONG!

Comment to Vash. This is indeed an AWESOME song. But Jimmy and Jesus are one person. Jimmy is an alternate personality like said in letterbomb "The St. Jimmy is a figment of your fathers rage and your mothers love" The "Jimmy" side of Jesus is what dies and this is Jesus' lament at losing Whatsername... Just a little tidbit of info. :-D But. An awesome song. Much like all the songs on this great album.

I luv the song but since I like all the songs on the album I would have to say it's one of my least favorites on the album. But it's still great.

Green Day havn't saved rock and roll. They might be in the mainstream, bt there is better music out there than this. Look and you will find out so.

Cratic I'm sorry there isn't nothing better then Greenday right now. Greenday are entering legendary status next to the ramones and johnny cash and this is coming from a really big fan of greenday so fuck off if you dislike what I'm saying.

There is a lot better than green day right now. Like I said, look and you will find out. I'm not saying that they're a bad band by any means, it's just that I think in the indie world there is music that blows this right out of the water. The only reason why they're getting so much praise, is because they're one of the few bands that managed to stick around in the mainstream light, and put out a decent album. And I think that's all the cd is; decent. It's just my opinion. And also, my comment was mostly directed at the statement "Green Day has saved rock and roll." They havn't saved anything. Rock and Roll has always been around, and WILL always be around.

Surprising that the songs from their most recent studio album are leaking out non-stop. This song is outstanding.

i dunno about "saving rock n roll," but as far as mainstream rock goes, green day is pretty much top notch. as overplayed and overkilled as this album was, i think it'll break down barriers for other mainstream artists to make more clever yet catchy pop music, so more power to them.
