Cover Of: Imagine by John Lennon
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

whenever you hear this song, it's like you automatically get lennon's version humming in your ear, while maynard's vocals pulls the listener... and big d, you said it best, it's an amazing cover and i can't wait until the album hits stores... however, there is a question that maybe you or someone could answer for me... around the time mer de noms was released (or in the process of being released, can't remember which one) maynard made the comment that only 3 APC albums were going to be released... is the final installment of APC? a cd of covers?

back around the time that mer de noms was released, the comment was made that maynard was only to come out with 3 APC albums... that it was moreless something maynard was "experimenting" with... i mean, think about it... when was the last tool album released compared to an APC album? and here recently, it's been said that after the release of the next APC album, maynard plans on concentrating on tool... which is why the next tool album has plans of coming out early/mid 2005... i just want someone to prove me wrong b/c i don't want to see an end to APC... oh, and btw, i just watched the video for the 1st time and i suggest EVERYONE to see it... every scene in the video is very powerful, but you can still see maynard's mind working (I. E. the baby... you'll understand after seeing it)... also, i like the left-handed scroll @ the bottom of the screen... it has that whole CSPAN effect... i advise everyone to watch it before MTV bands it due to content... it fucking ROCKS!

Maynard said in concert he'd be concentration on a Tool album, and then return to APC for further experimenting. If he at once did say there would be only 3 albums, I can't believe now that he would still hold to that. But, on the same token, I love Tool. And if he wants to focus on creating more material ala Lateralus, I won't be anything but fucking euphoric.

well, i hope that's the case... maynard spawned a beautiful child (child = APC) that i hope stays around a little longer than 3 albums... it's one thing for APC to be shelved, while Tool stands in the limelight... BUT for APC to be buried is not something i wish to think about... now if only Nov. 2 could get here sooner... :)

Lennon was crap???? I have no fucking clue how you can live with yourself. Obviously you wouldn't know good music if it bit you in the ass. John Lennon wrote some of the most powerful lyrics you'll ever read, and these fuckers have to go and ruin the song. I finally got the chance to hear it, and the only question that was going through my head was "why?". There is nothing special about this guys voice, and I just don't see why ANYONE would cover this masterpiece. It should be left alone. But seriously, saying that Lennon was crap, that just pisses me off so much. I never heard too many things more ognorant than that.

I am a big fan of tool and apc, Lennon's version of this song is much better. However, like someone else said on here. This is great no matter who sings/plays it. I doubt apc is trying to replace Lenon's version of the song. They are only bringing it back for all those who missed it the first time around.

Wow, lots of ignorance pouring through this one. First off, John Lennon was a fucking deity among mortals when it comes to music, and saying otherwise just proves how narrow-minded and close-eyed you are to everything around you. Second, Maynard never intended to try and better John Lennons version. He covered it because it has meaning and heart. He covered it in tribute and adoration of someone he has always cited as an idol of his. The two versions of the song are so different, you cannot compare them. John Lennons version and A Perfect Circles are equal in greatness, and the only thing that sets the APC version apart is the amazing video that accompanied it.

ok, now i believe someone made the statement how we should be commenting on this particular song, but i must say that BuryMeAlive has some balls saying that lennon didn't make good music... but if you would, my dear sir, answer me this: why is it that the day lennon was shot, many people say it's the day that music died? yes, they're a lot of bands that make good music and sell rather well, but in order to appreicate music, you must broaden yourself and span out of your nutshell of music...

Zero, look at my artist list or cd collection, are you telling me that my music is in a nutshell, get out of here. And the whole "music died in 1980", fuck that, I mean like half of the bands you listen to came up after 1980. So that ain't true, Lennon DID NOT invent music. I would rather say music died with Elvis and when the punk wave was over in 77-78. Anyways, I made a comment and all you guys jump on me like a gang of horny fags, nothing you say will change my mind, and same with me. so let end this now. amen?

To bring the focus back to the song, I believe that the point of the song and the video is to illustrate the situation that the country is in. Although John Lennon wrote it, the words still apply. As for the video, I think it is fitting. The song and the album is political in nature, and was made to say something. There is a message behind this music, and the video as well. Brillantly executed. I know it made me stop and think.
