Load up on guns, bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's over bored and self assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word

Hello, hello, hello, how low?

I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

Hello, hello, hello, how low?

And I forget just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it was hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind

hello, hello, hello, how low?

With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My Libido
Yay, a denial
Nevermind

Well duh, obviously one of the most classic rock songs ever. It's just so great - one of the first songs I learned on guitar. No matter how many times you hear it, it never seems to get old.

People seem to think you have to love this song and this band if you listen to any rock music at all. It's not one of the best rock songs of all time, it's just very simple and catchy, making the perfect formula for a radio "classic". In all aspects Nirvana got too much of the credit that bands like Soundgarden and Alice in Chains deserved more of.

Schill, he is not an selfish peice of shit. He made good music, and he was cool. He suffered from short man syndrome, and was always fighting and losing to prove he was manly even though he was a short mofo. This song is overrated, but the rest of their shit is as good as it fucking gets. Hey schill, why don't you eat my fucking feces! The guy had a chronic stomach disease which hurt like hell, and he stopped enjoying what he was doing. He would have been fine living out of a fucking car, instead, he got famous. Grohl the only guy with talent? Come on, Cobain could play great guitar while singing his ass off. That takes talent. Alice in Chains sucked, they were just plain gay. That's all I have to say about them. You don't listen to music to hear tales of war, you listen so you can relate to your everyday life, that's how it works. Cobain was an everday guy and people could relate with him, and he didn't sound fake, while everyone else was just trying to make as much money as possible, he was singing because he could get his view across.

And it should kick alot of your asses for saying it sucks, because I think Kurt was an awesome guitar player and maybe he didn't venture out of the rangwe of 3 chords alot, he still made awesome music and lyrics. And grunge is not to play guitar o' so perfectly, it's suppose to be kinda distorted and all that, that's what makes it kick ass!

Kurt was a shitty guitarist. Yeah, he did have a tremendoues impact on the bands that everyone seems to hate, like Seether, Smile Empty Soul, and the rest of those talentless shit bands. This song, however, wasn't actually all that bad. Oddling, you ARE a moron. Gorhl was the only guy with actual talent, and Alice In Chains wrote memorable and depressing lyrics that make Kurt look like a four year old with a Crayon.

The only reason this band is popular is because MTV licked Nirvana's butthole and tried to make you think they were the greatest band of the 90's. Fuck that. Rage Against the Machine would blow up shit likeand so would the Red Hot Chili Peppers. And I am right, I always have.

i wholeheartedly agree with schillinger. this band is over-rated out of their minds, and i LIKE them, don't get me wrong, i just don't think anything they're praised for is in any way true. if he didn't commit suicide i'd bet a lot of money that half the people that have this band as their "favourite band of all time," or even half the people commenting on this song alone, would never have even checked them out, let alone heard of them. im glad he did, though, because then i wouldn't have my lovely foo fighters, who blow nirvana out of the water any day of the week. anyone who says different is lying to themselves. shit, even dave's drumming isn't that good on any of their shit because he got MUCH better after the first foos album. this song and this band stand as a testament to the fact that dying is, indeed, your ticket into rock immortality and infinite praise.

and just to comment on their "impact on music," i'd like to point to the bands that they influenced. nickelback? seether? fucking creed? puddle of mudd? all the bands with clear nirvana influences happen to suck balls. im not saying nirvana does too, im just saying their "impact" isn't really that profound because their offspring is fucking shit. kurt's playing style is over-rated not only because it's simple as shit but also because it just isn't that GOOD. bands like green day dont play very complex guitar lines but they can write extremely potent songs. kurt's guitar just went off in all directions in no cohesive fashion. it just isn't pleasing to the ears in a lot of places. if any of the kids that hail these guys as the best band ever have even HEARD In Utero or any of their other songs they'll notice that the guitars are just screeching heaps of distorted noise. it doesn't take a genius to do that. it takes a genius to know that, by dying, he'll become bigger than jesus.

It's not really the impact they had towards other bands as much as it is to their fans. This is a time where hair medal and bubblegum pop ruled the charts, and then these guys just storm out with a whole new sound. You also gotta give credit to other bands out at the time who also made it big too, like pearl jam, alice in chains, mother love bone, etc.

How stupid it might sound this remains my favourite song of all time. If anybody read in my other comments it was Metallica's One, it isn't. This song has just anything about and I grew up with this song. When I was just 4 this came out and I can still remeber me sitting in the car listening to this, I was totally blown away. Then When I was 10 this was like the first album I ever got and I've listened it at least 2 times a day since then. So I can bassicly say that this is the song of my life although I never understood Where the hell this lyrics are about. But I really don't fucking care. This song rules them all and there will never be a better song by anyone.

Oh my fucking lord. I said Alice in Chains was gay. Well, since then, I've become a fan. I am truly sorry. Green Day's 3 chord songs were simple as dog shit, you can learn to play them in half a minute or less, literally. I did that last night. Nirvana on the other hand, doesn't just crank out white noise on guitar, they layer their songs with interesting tones. The chord progression is beautiful, and interesting. Listen to In Bloom you dipshits. Pure badass chord progression. Cobain was a genius, his guitar matched the song, and Krist Novoselics bass work is fucking incredibly genius. The thumping bass matches perfectly to the sentiment. This band was fucking great, period. I don't care what anyone thinks, this band meant something to alot of people. They were honest, and Cobain sang with so much God damned emotion. Nirvana was more than a moment in time, and Foo Fighters doesn't compare to Nirvana. Grohl is good, but he's a joke compared to Cobain. If you disagree, you suck.

Oddling, first of all, if you want to hear a guitar genious, go listen to jason becker, joe satriani, yngwie malmsteen, steve vai, or rusty cooley to name a few. If you wanna hear a good bass player, listen to Les Claypool, Victor Wooten, Billy Sheehan, John Myung, or Stu Hamm. Those are just a few artists who are much more talented than anyone in Nirvana ever was. Nirvana is one of the most overrated bands in music history, Kurt Cobain is the most overrated guitarist ever. He sucked, he couldnt sing, if you wanna hear some good singers, listen to dream theater or iron maiden, or porcupine tree. These bands are the ones that are really talented, and the only reason nirvana gets so much hype is because of the mainstream bullshit and MTV. If you listen to any of the fore mentioned artists and still say cobain did better work, you're an idiot who is in denial of cobains failure at being what all the magazines say he was. He sucked, Nirvana sucked, and this song doesnt demonstrate grunge.

I'd take Nirvana over Iron Maiden any day, but do you know what? That's just my opinion, and what you said is yours. But seriously, I believe Kurt was an under-rated guitar player; especially in this song. People look over this solo just because it's smells like teen spirit. If you actually listen to it, youwould see that he makes the guitar sound asthough it is singing. Not everyone can do that. He can play in such perfect melody, and can pull out some great riffs too. And yes, In bloom is a great example of it; aswell as his cover of the man who sold the world. Also, I really don't give a shit about what the magazines and media said about him, because the fact is, I was too young to see the impact that these guys had on people. It wasn't until the last 5 or 6 years that I really started to pay attention to music and artists, so they had no effect on me. But once again, it's all a matter of opinion, so don't say everyone who doesn't agree with you is an idiot.

wow...why do people waste their time coming to bands they don't like or enjoy to rant about it. Do you really have that much time on your hands? Also you say that people like kurt because of the media and Mtv. It seems that your argument could be used on you as well. More and more people start hating Nirvana and calling them overrated, and it really seems like more of a fad then an actual opinion. Also, if you listen to Love Buzz especially, but really almost any Nirvana song, you would hear that he doesn't suck at guitar but in fact is really good and creating hooky riffs and solos. I also don't see what makes him a bad singer. He doesn't have an incredibly wide range, but that doesn't mean he isn't good. I actually think (yes these are opinions) that he is a very talented singer. Again these are opinions...and you aren't going to be able to change them by arguing them. Don't tell ME what guitarist to listen to, I know my shit, bitch. Learn to spell genius, you fucking incompetent prick. Dave Grohl is the greatest drummer on earth, jackass, how is he less talented!? It's all someones fucking opinion you closed minded flacid bitch, pull your head out of your ass and learn to respect others opinions for once you fucking asshat. Christ. He didn't suck, he could sing. Shut the fuck up with MTV already, I was a fucking small child when Nevermind came out, I listen to Nirvana IN SPIT of the mainstream media. It is CLICHE and EMBARASSING to listen to Nirvana now, GOD! I listen to Dream Theatre, Petrucci, I listen to everything. I am open minded musically. You are not. I am not an idiot, but, whatever. You have no clue what 'Grunge' is, my friend. Grow up little one.

The only song that sounds like this one is Rape Me, and that's only because of the riff.

Sick song. Hella hard to hear what he is saying though.
On another note: I'm getting tired of seeing long ass comments with people like spittle8 who use them just to talk to other people, seriously, use the message board for that.

i really like the music to this song, and the lyrics, but you really can't understand him, except for the chorus.

I know this is the song most people will look at so I'm just here to say how horrible this song is and how bad the band is as well. Kurt was a horrible person and an idiot at that. Dave Grohl was the only saving grace for them most of the time.

The Nirvana song that is claimed to be the #1 song in alternative rock. IMO, I like it even though it's WAY overplayed.

this is the song that killed hair bands dead. The genre was played out - so for that, Nirvana will always rule!

Clamed to be #1 alternative rock song. It was in the right place at the right time. It deserves no where near any piece of the recognition it's gotten. Has anyone even read these lyrics? I've read 7th grade poetry that was better than this, and I know poetry.
