We did performed this song in school and got 3rd for it. Very sad but still Nothing Else Matters very much. The judges are blind for not allowing us to get first. That's true Jacoby. Nobody can do it as well as the originals. Besides James wrote his own lyrics and sang this with his heart and emotions. This song does meant something, just because it's titled Nothing Else Matters, doesn't mean it is nothing. This mean a lot of things. For example, it could simply reflect upon the band. It's like being running on a tour for so long and going back to hometown. And girlfriends come and go. The ending solo if you had listend by heart, it's simply fabulous unlike any other solos by Metallica. You can kind of vent it all out into the solo and play it fucking loud so that it makes you relax and feel better in life.

the exotic birds

Metallica disappointed a lot of fans when this cd was released. Everyone kept comparing the new stuff (at the time) to the old shit. From what I've heard and read, this song broke the camels back. Metallica hadn't released melodic music prior to this (unless a live show included one), so it raised a lot of eyebrows. Some would call it "pussy shit" while others proclaimed this song as astounding. This album may have taken fans in opposite directions, but one thing is for sure: the overall composition of this song is absolutely briliiant.

It's always taken a while for many Metallica fans to accept the stuff they throw at them and let it grow on em. This song got a lot of criticism, as most of Metallica's most recent stuff has as well, but they were getting shit from metalheads since Kill em All. Even Master of Puppets was not initially well recieved. Many fans forget that.
