Fade To Black by Iron Horse
Life, it seems, will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters, no one else

I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free

Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel

Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone

No one but me can save myself, but it's too late
Now I can't think, think why I should even try

Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye

Avatar #17: The One - added: 03/29/2004, 03:48 PM
Absolutely the best song ever made. I mean it's just great. The lyrics are perfect. Really dark and stuff. With the intro guitar solo alone this song already is worth an A+. The ending is the best part. This rocks so much.
Avatar #18: Hem - added: 04/03/2004, 04:11 PM
classic. possibly the best song ever written
Avatar #19: Jochem - added: 04/09/2004, 08:41 AM
One off the best songs ever written for sure This might be even better then Nothing Else matters and One. tHe LyrIcs here are soo deep and amazing. Every time I hear this, it makes me think about life. The guitarsolos in this song are one off the best that I ever heard. The begin with a very calm one and the end it with an endless heavy solo. Awesome song!!!

After One this is the best Metallica song. It begins great with a brilliant solo. Then the lyrics are said in the best way possible. Those are about suicide which he commits in the end. And then a Awesoem Guitarsolo kicks in! One off the best songs ever made!

Avatar #26: Poopstick Ninja - added: 05/09/2004, 10:12 PM
The song isn't so much about suicide as it is about losing purpose and a will to move on.
Avatar #27: LikexAxBulletxToxMyxHead - added: 05/18/2004, 09:16 PM

Avatar #40: I c y - added: 10/22/2004, 08:36 AM
Oh YEA! Fade to Black. This is the best song made by Metallica. Well, probably. The lyrics is awesome, let alone the guitar solos and riffs here.
Avatar #41: 42147 - added: 11/09/2004, 04:44 PM
Historically, this is the first song that the so-called "hardcore" metfans would turn their heads away from saying "Fuck that song!" But now it is viewed as classic. People who complain about Metallica nowadays should think about that. It's nothing new for them to go beyond the rules of metal. They've been doing that since the beginning. Horns up for FTB!
Avatar #42: I c y - added: 11/11/2004, 12:22 PM
that is true. i don't see why there u guys shouldn't give perfect for this song. Awesome by metallica. Still the best for me and i would rate this as No.1 tied with Nothing Else Matters. The lyrics of FTB is so much well-written by James. The lyrics make so much sense and to the point of addiction.
Avatar #43: I c y - added: 11/11/2004, 12:25 PM
Oh yea, 1 more thing, i liked the performance they done at Seattle. FTB is performed and Lars did a double bass pedal soo fast that it sounded more like heartbeat and Kirk did a very fast ending solo too. I also like Kirk's guitar very much. The distortion was mere clean and so much that it makes this song so classic and hardcore. Thumbs up for this song! and this song will still go on 100 million years later.
Avatar #44: Bliss From A Dead Embrace - added: 12/29/2004, 04:12 AM
This song is perfect in everyway but yes... they did bend the rules of metal... yet this like all thier old songs takes talent to play... it has solos and time changes... It has meaning to the lyrics... its beautiful.... My favorite song of all time... And when larrs played this song on the Live Shit Binge And Purge DVD he did a double bass roll through certain parts of the song that just sounded so amazing..... Long live the memories of metallica
Avatar #45: Machine - added: 01/11/2005, 04:59 PM
Best song Metallica has ever made. Also the third best guitarsolo I've ever heard. Right after David gilmour's Comfortably numb and Van Halen's Eruption.

joebob is obviously about 14 and just heard of metallica and doesn't appreciate some of their classic stuff. This song is absolutely brilliant, not in my opinion, but in many others. I cant understand what you dont like about this song? Fool
Avatar #54: AmericanStandard - added: 04/24/2005, 09:10 PM
One of Metallicas greatest songs, and yes they have made many great songs but their new shit sucks. Ya cant beat the old speed metal.
Avatar #55: Jochem - added: 04/25/2005, 12:59 PM
"Haha, he made fun of you" He I read this exact comment somewhere. Uuh let me think. Right. PoopSrick Ninja made it on the Wish You Were Here page where it actaully made sence. Nobody here was making fun of anybody so shut up. And to Joebob, I'm a huge Metallica fan and have been listening to them for years and years and My favourite album has to be Ride The Lightning aswell, and I know a lot of people agree with me so shut up aswell
Avatar #56: 42147 - added: 05/07/2005, 04:38 PM
Joebob is right about one thing, Ride the Lightning certainly ain't Metallica's best, but it comes so damn close. I'd probably give that to Master of Puppets or ...And Justice for All.
Avatar #57: I c y - added: 05/11/2005, 12:59 PM
I'm with Cobain for this time because Fade To Black is my favouite since the past and even in the future. Just by listening to the ending solo, you will know what fade to black means...
