I wish I were with you, I couldn't stay
Every direction leads me away
Pray for tomorrow, but for today
All I want is to be home

Stand in the mirror, you look the same
Just looking for shelter, from the cold and the pain
Someone to cover, safe from the rain
All I want is to be home

Echoes and silence, patience and grace
All of these moments I'll never replace
Fear of my heart, absence of faith
All I want is to be home

All I want is to be home

People I've loved, I have no regrets
Some I remember, some I forget
Some of them living, some of them dead
All I want is to be home
Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace

i think damian said that this song sounds like coldplay, which i guess i can see, only it isnt as fucking sappy or saccharine as chris martin would have made it. this song is beautiful. again, it fits in with the vibe that i'm getting from this album, which is that dave and the guys are settling into being the older rock band... and that's fine by me, if they keep writing songs like this. the soft drums coming in towards the end are gorgeous. their best closer since "new way home," i'd say.

Haunting and beautiful - I can't stop listening to this song...it makes me remember many lost friends...lost to me and to this world. I don't want to sound sappy because I know Dave and the band have come so far since Nirvana, but some of the lyrics sound as if they tie into his relationship with Cobain. It's a beautiful end to an awesome CD - I purchased this because of the first single out and the video on VH1 of the Pretender - it was a lot heavier than what I expected and I sensed that there was something more - I was right...

Yeah, I did say that this song could fit onto Parachutes easily, and I stick by that after hearing it more. I'm not saying that as a bad thing either. It's the first time that Dave has played piano on a Foo's record i do believe, and wow is it ever haunting. This song is just simply beautiful, and it does make you realize how old the guys are getting. I think Dave's daughter had the biggest influence on this song, and if this turns out to be the bands last album, they could not have ended it in a better way. As simplistic as it is, it is still by far one of the best Foo Fighter songs released. I will go on record saying that. I really don't want this song to be prolific, being such a huge fan of the group, but this song says a lot more than what I think some people realize.
