McCartney said he had the idea of "Let It Be" after a dream he had about his mother. He also said in a later interview about the dream that his mother had told him, "It will be all right, just let it be."

Andrew Spears 		Let It Be is one of McCartney's best compositions. With a wonderful melody and some of his best writing, Let It Be is a definitive song.

Happiness... 		yes yes yes yes YES!!!!!!!!! "ONe of the best written songs of all time" yes yes yes. yes. Gah. This, I'm pretty sure, is my favourite song in the world. I think so everytime I hear it. I hear other songs from time to time that I might think for a fleeting moment are my favourite but no. This is the one for me. I can't even give a good comment on it because all I want to do is close my eyes and let this sheer beauty take me away. Dammit, THIS is why the Beatles are the best thing ever to happen to music.

blackbird. 		I am usually one of those Lennon lovers, the kind of person who prefer Lennon over McCartney on most occasions, but this is truly a magnificent piece of art. "Let It Be" is the perfect message and I can't imagine how many people have taken it to heart, as well. Just beautifully done.

Rest Easy Soul 		This song has always helped me out in life. This is the most inspirational and meaningful song I've ever heard. One of the best messages ever. No matter how bad things get this song haunts me. How can Paul write this song when everything is so bad? Easily the best song lyrically he ever did.
