I read the news today oh, boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure
if he was from the House of Lords
I saw a film today oh, boy
The English army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
But I just had to look
Having read the book
I'd love to turn you on.
Woke up, got out of bed
dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
and looking up, I noticed I was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
Somebody spoke and I went into a dream
Ah
I read the news today oh, boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes
it takes to fill the Albert Hall
I'd love to turn you on

... beautiful song, in my opinion, one of the best songs on Sgt. Pepper, which I also believe is one of the greatest albums ever made.....

Pretty Cool song. Pressumed the best song off the beatles. My favorite is Elanor Rigby

very good song but i like the first half of the song way better, the slower half. in the middle, when it speeds up, it kinda ruins it a bit for me

Epic song, one of the last that Lennon and McCartney acutally wrote together. Well, they combined two separate songs. Either way, amazing song.

One of my favorite Beatles songs. Just so cool the way they were able to combine a McCartney song on top of a Lennon song with the effects. One of the highlights of the album, for sure, and thats a high honor.

One of the most incredible combination pieces ever. John had a song, Paul had a song. The two were combined and actually made a timeless classic. This is much harder to do than would be expected, of course. Once again, their genius has been proven.

Tells a good story and is pretty good tag team work from Lennon and McCartney. Great way to end one of their best albums.
