As for me not liking them for putting out " one album that was like a total disaster," I guess you don't have ears. They've put out three albums that were total disasters and one album that was just decent. Iron Maiden's best stuff beats Metallica's best stuff, and Metallica's worst stuff is 100x's worse than that of Iron Maiden's. I've gotta say, I dont own this album but I borrowed it and I liked certain songs, this was probably one of my favourites out of them. Metallica haven't sold out, they're just going in a new direction. I totally support them and hope they're around a lot longer. Metallica are still a heavy band but they've just calmed down a bit. The MTVicon: Metallica show was a tribute to the band, not a show BY the band. I was impressed to hear Avril attempt one of metallica's faster songs (Fuel) and I gained respect for Snoop Dogg when I heard him doing one of metallica's heaviest songs!
People, there's nothing wrong in a band being popular, as long as it doesn't go to their heads (it's too late for Lars!). Metallica will still be around when I've got kids I hope, then I can tell them I was there when they played their first show without Lars.
Keep the peace and keep rocking to Metallica. You know you love them!

Im not really looking into Blues style of Metallica, instead I really enjoy the days they do thrash. Example would be like Seek N Destroy, or Blackened. Or any classic songs like Fade to Black or Sanitarium would do. I'm also looking forward to see if they gonna put at least 1 track of pure instrumental song into the new album. The "true fans" really need to shut the hell up as far as criticism is concerned. Sure, this was a weak album. But hey, I can't name a single band who hasn't made a bad album. And besides, at least we know that when Metallica comes back with more stuff from the studio, the solos will be there, and the production will be refined.
