in the land of dirt and plaster
lies an army of a thousand nowhere kids
losing ground and falling faster
into a life that no one should have to live

we are the people that you hate
we are the bastards that you created (the fucking bastards that you created)
a generation with no place
a generation of all your sons and daughters

behind the fake family image
behind the smile of a thousand moms and dads
inside the cage that we've been given
i see an image of the future that we don't have

[chorus]

and what did you expect ... a perfect child
raised by tv sets ... abandoned every mile
we never get respect ... never a fair trial
no one gives a shit ... as long as we smile

I liek this band's lyrics, they try to SAY something, not just whine about getting dumped. Enjoyable guitars in this song.

This song pefectly explains the way adults look at kids today and why so many kids suffer from depression. I think this is one of the best songs ever not only because of the music but the meaning to it.

when i went to ifilm.com to watch the music video (again and again cuz it rocks) they had a little "summary" box it said:
Issue rock is raging for this California trio, who turn their thrashing chops to the topic of child abuse.

How can you hate any song Smile Empty Soul has done? Ever song has a meaning behind it, For example, This is about Child Abuse, This is War is about A soldier's point of view and Bottom of A bottle is about doing what makes you happy. So how can you hate a band like this?

It sucks when the parents aren't there for their children. But that's how it is these days. You just gotta get through it any way you can........
