I'm kind of wondering why this band is ranked in the top 10 above STP, Soundgarden, Areosmith, the Beatles, Metallica, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, etc. I guess popularity does take precedence over quality in everything.

It's not a matter of loving 90s rock really, half those bands are earlier but these people are definitely not deserving of the number 1 rating. My point was just that catchy and sing-along bands are given more respect than bands that try to do something different and get past the "3 lessons and I'm ready" style most musicians use nowadays. I can name more bands, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Tool, Porcupine Tree, Rush, Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin...the list goes on and on.
