Putting Opeth into one genre is impossible to do.
Opeth just make perfect albums and genres can't
touch them.

They do a damn good job of combining extremely
heavy bits with flowing, melodic harmonies and
crazy, unpredictable chord progressions. Their
vocalist is amazing, going from growling to clean,
pure, vocal genius with no breaks in the flow of
things. Damnation, Blackwater Park, and
Deliverance are incredible.

my friend who never listened to opeth before said
something that made me laugh while listening to
damnation. "these guys do everything
right"
best band ever.

One amazing and thouroghly creative group. Songs
can drag on a little bit sometimes though.

Similar to streblo666's story, my friend who had
never listened to Opeth listened to Master's
Apprentice and said, "This isn't even like a
song, it's like an experience." And I thought
that was almost the perfect way of summing up
Opeth's sound. And this kid didn't even listen to
this genre of music or anything relatively close.
