Indeed NIN fell off big time. "With
Teeth" is just so boring.

With Teeth is a step forward in my opinion, and
its nice to see that obviously Trent includes more
catchy sounds and rythms, its not like his music
became mainstream.

With Teeth is a step forward, it's catchy and
doesn't get boring. It's a step in a new direction
for Trent, but a good one

NIN are ever-changing but in my opnion, they've
never gotten worse. And no, I don't wish Trent
would take up heroin.

This album is so different, it's a new step I
agree. But, I feel like there are less upbeat
songs on this album so one may need to be in a
particular mood to listen to it.

So I heard some of the new tracks from Year
Zero.
And I'm a little disappointed,
actually.

I think it's sad how everyone is suddenly
disappointed with the direction Trent is going.
He's nine inch nails, people! lol. His life change
drastically after he got out of rehab. You can't
expect With Teeth and Year Zero to be another
Downward Spiral or Pretty Hate Machine. But, who
wants to hear the same music over and over again?
I've heard Survivalism and My Violent Heart and I
think the music is just brilliant. Survivalism is
heavy and strong and I love it. I think Trent's
music is going in the right direction and I'm
already counting the days to the release of Year
Zero.

I've heard the four tracks revealed off Year Zero
and so far Survivalism and In This Twilight are my
favourites. I can't wait, they all sound so
awesome. It's good how his music isn't sounding
too much like previous work.

Year Zero is going to be an awesome album. [With
Teeth] sounded so different from The Fragile. Look
at it like this. The Fragile, Trent was so messed
up and that album didn't do too good but it's a
wonderful album. [With Teeth], Trent was clean,
the album didn't do as good as it could of but
it's still a really good album. So if you think
about it, Downward Spiral, the NIN album that's
done the best was before Trent got really bad, so
Year Zero is the one right after Trent was just
coming out of rehab. So, logically, Year Zero will
be the equivalent to Downward Spiral. Hah,
that was ridiculous logic, but its my way of
saying, I CAN'T WAIT FOR YEAR ZERO TO COME
OUT!..Besides, in my personal opinion, Pretty Hate
Machine is the best, followed by The Fragile and
then [With Teeth]. I like Downward Spiral, but
it's not my favorite. I dunno, it has some really
good songs, but in its entirety, it's just a good
album...Anyway. The Survivalism video is awesome.
Watch that thing frame by frame.

Nine Inch Nails is the most original band ever
created. I even have the logo tattooed. If you are
not familiar with these tunes then you should
check out all the albums. A different sound for a
different emotion. A different vibe to the
chapters of our life.

Most original band ever? You can love NIN as much
as you want but they are not the most original
band ever...

I agree, when I got the e-mail telling me about
The Slip I was like "huh? Already?" So I
downloaded it & it is amazing. I can't say I
like everything NIN has done, but it's pretty
close.

I think Trent should once again take some time
and make some decent music, "The Slip"
is crap.

With Teeth is ok. Not great, but it's still NIN.
You just gotta love listening to Trent sing "I've got my arms they flip flop flip flop
flip"
Nine Inch Nails is still a
pretty awesome thing.

on it that are good.

Well, Murder, are you saying you want him to do
another album like Pretty Hate Machine? Not to say
I didn't like it, because I enjoy that album
greatly. However, I think that his music presently
satisfies me. It might not satisfy you, I respect
that. I like that he's doing something
different.
PS: When I was being all
faux-internet-angry at you, I was kidding. :]

I'm not really saying Trent should do a "PHM
Vol. 2", it's just to me he hasn't done
anything remotely interesting since "The
Fragile" Everything after just sounds boring
and uninspired to me.

I have to disagree with the boring and uninspired
part. As for myself I always loved the old stuff
and I loved with teeth. To me it showed how smart
trent really was. It's not always about being
angry and with teeth showed to me he can make
great albums with out feeding on anger. Not that I
don't like angry albums. But to me it shows he is
true artist. I don't understand how their is a so
called lack of inspiration. Maybe you don't follow
politics but year zero and everything after has
clearly been statements of world issues. War,
lies, and government, there is all the inspiration
you can handle in a lifetime. I have felt more
inspired and impressed as the albums have been
released. Not to mention how trent has practically
been giving away all the new music with free and 5
dollar downloads.

1) By my 'boring and uninspired' I was more
talking about the music than the lyrics... Besides
there are many other bands that do the 'war, lies
and government' type of thing way better than mr.
Reznor.
2) To me free mp3's and
downloads are great to check things out. But to me
mp3's and home burned CD's can never replace the
real hard goods. I want the physical record, the
artwork and all that shit.

One of the greatest and most influential
industrial metal bands/people ever. And I'm not
trying to disrespect or argue with anybody's
comments here, but I think it's unfair to compare
NIN's new stuff to Pretty Hate Machine. Don't get
me wrong, it's a great album and a NIN classic,
but compared to NIN's other stuff, it's relatively
immature, especially when comparing the music.
That said, The Slip is a great album. Ever
since I downloaded it (with plans to buy the
CD/DVD edition) I can't stop listening to it. It
sounds like to me that Trent pretended that Year
Zero never happened and continued from where The
Fragile and [With Teeth] left off. Once again, I
have to say, well done Trent. Keep up the good
work. If anyone hasn't done so, go to the website
and download it. You'll be glad you did. Besides,
it's free! So what have you got to lose?

it's been forever since i've logged into this
site, but couldn't help but fell complied to write
something. after reading everyone's and being such
a huge NIN fanatic, i will have to agree with
murder to an extent. i've heard so many say that
"the slip" is such a great album and
it's PHM all over again; ladies and gentlemen, the
cd in it's entirety is nothing like pretty hate.
yeah, there's similar sounds and synth used, but
other than a heightened lyrical appoarch this disc
doesn't have much going for it. if anything, the
instrumental tracks are about the only distant
sounds on the disc and that's only because it
brings you back to reznor's still album; which is
by far his best album to date.
